Here is the full list of Nominees and Winners from our second annual Awards Night! Nominations were put forward by the Stray community and winners were selected by the Stray Advisory Panel (made up of Honorary Life Members and past Exec members).

Thank you to everyone who took part in our 2023 shows and the celebration of those shows at Awards Night!

 

The Nick Somerville Award for a “retiring” Stray member 

Dedicated to long time Stray member Nick Somerville, this is for a Stray Member who is "retiring" from Stray, but will be back next year.

  • Alex Schofield - For being around longer than the person the award is named after 

  • Gemma Christall - For her continuous support even after leaving the exec

  • Rory Janssen - For continuous involvement in countless Stray productions

Top Fan Award

For Stray’s Top Fan, anyone who has been a huge supporter of Stray this year.

  • Ben Allen - For supporting all of Stray’s shows in 2023

  • Galina Zubova’s Mum - For saying she would support a national tour of Low Pay? Don’t Pay! 

  • Irene Corbett - For supporting and attending nearly every Stray show in 2023

  • Kyla Blennerhassett - For supporting all of Stray’s shows in 2023

  • Tiaana Quest - For promoting and attending every show of Mongoose the Musical

Saviour of Stray Award

For someone who has come to the aid of Stray when things looked dire.

  • Andrew Furness - For technical support and getting microphones for Mongoose

  • Ben Allen - For commitment as Stage Manager for Low Pay? Don’t Pay!

  • Joshua Wang - For working on every single show this year on top of his official roles as Treasurer and Stir Fried Producer

  • Sophie Woudt - For signing up to be Stir Fried Lighting Operator at the last minute and learning the whole show in a day

Most Memorable Moment In A Performance

One particular moment in a show that had a significant impact in some way, even a small moment that hit home even when the show was over.

  • Cast of Low Pay? Don’t Pay! - For the moment they swore themselves to secrecy about (David Laxon, Galina Zubova, Hjordis McEvoy, Kiki Nishiyama, Nathan Young, Rowan Button, Uisce-Lily Treacy-Bond, Vatsal Shah) 

  • Katie Harris - For getting foam pied in the face with a smile and bad joke despite being unwell in Stir Fried XV

  • Mikaela Stroud & Josh Liddell-Trotter - For the character reveal of AIDA in Mongoose the Musical 

  • The Door from Low Pay? Don’t Pay! - For not collapsing despite all odds 

  • The Dummy from Mongoose - For getting stuck on the set and its pants coming off in Mongoose the Musical
