The Glass Menagerie
Written by Tennessee Williams
Directed by Florian Fairburn
Pitt Street Theatre
May 28th to 31st

About the Play
Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie is a reflection on the life of the Wingfield family as it teeters on the edge of collapse. Each individual falls deeper into their own neuroses: a mother succumbing to heady embrace of memory; a son caught in a downward spiral; and a daughter cloistered in the world of her glass menagerie.
The play is memory. We see the family only as the son looks back upon them, a final reenactment of their time together. He directs the scenes at a remove, simultaneously framed within and without their rendition—though perhaps this memory is not as distant as it seems...
